Mission statement
At CREAMETAL we are working towards a metalworking world in which craftsmanship and efficiency are no longer a contradiction.
We enable small and medium-sized businesses to produce twice as fast with state-of-the-art, field-proven production aids, without losing the character of the craft.
We develop, manufacture and sell intelligent, robust and easy-to-use solutions for railing construction and metalworking worldwide.
Our mission is to give metalworkers and metal fabrication shops tangible time savings, precision and flexibility – thanks to products created in the field for the field that pay for themselves quickly.
We stand for clever solutions in metalworking, for communication as equals and short decision-making paths.
Company history
A Swiss success story
By metalworkers. For metalworkers.
Some success stories begin in a boardroom. The CREAMETAL story begins in a kitchen – with an old trivet.
In 1997, the Swiss metalworking industry was going through a difficult period. Price pressure kept rising, and large corporations were pushing into markets with dumping prices that had previously been the preserve of small and medium-sized metal fabrication shops. Karl Zimmermann AG, the long-established metal fabrication shop in Bern's Matte district, felt this development keenly too.
For Hans Zimmermann, one thing was clear: to survive, you must not become cheaper – you must become better.
An idea that changed the metalworking trade
The decisive inspiration was quite literally lying on the kitchen table. A decades-old extendable trivet with a scissor mechanism gave Hans Zimmermann an idea that was as simple as it was ingenious: why not transfer this principle to railing construction?
The goal was ambitious. Railings were to be produced faster, more easily and more precisely. Insert the balusters, set the scissor mechanism, weld – a solution from the workshop, for the workshop.
Together with his sons Karl and Thomas and a design engineer friend, he built the first prototype over countless hours of work. A few weeks later, CREAMETAL AG was founded. The first product was given the name CREA-STAR – and laid the foundation for a success story that continues to this day.
In its very first business year, 1998, the innovative railing welding jig was awarded the Bavarian State Prize for outstanding technical achievement in the skilled trades. Today, the CREA-STAR is in use more than 1'200 times worldwide and ranks among the best-known solutions in professional railing construction.
Innovation as part of our DNA
From the very beginning, CREAMETAL has followed a clear philosophy: By metalworkers. For metalworkers.
Every development starts with a challenge from everyday workshop life. Only when a solution noticeably simplifies the work process, speeds it up or improves quality does it become a new product.
The CREA-WHEEL straightening machine series came about in exactly the same way. Intensive development work produced a machine that makes the laborious manual straightening of flat bar and balusters/infill bars practically superfluous while delivering considerably more precise results. The innovation not only won over customers worldwide, it also received the German Federal Prize for outstanding innovative achievement in the skilled trades in 2022.
With the launch of the CREA-WHEEL 220 in 2025, CREAMETAL set the next milestone. This powerful straightening machine was developed specifically for large, solid workpieces and once again significantly extends what modern metalworking and steel construction businesses can do.
Swiss Made – from the idea to the finished machine
Mario Weber has been at the helm of CREAMETAL AG since 2015, consistently developing the company further. Today the headquarters are located in Kappelen in the Bernese Seeland.
This is where every product is created – from the first sketch through design and development to final assembly. Around 70 per cent of all components are manufactured in-house. That guarantees short routes, high quality and maximum flexibility.
With a team of around ten employees, CREAMETAL produces for stock. As a result, machines can be delivered throughout Europe within a few working days. The Swiss headquarters are complemented by a dedicated service location in Germany, which supplies maintenance, repairs and spare parts quickly and easily.
In use worldwide. Rooted in the region.
Today, metalworkers in numerous countries work with solutions from CREAMETAL. Despite its international reach, the company has remained true to its roots.
Personal advice, development close to practice, durable machines and genuine Swiss-made quality still shape CREAMETAL today. What once began with an old trivet is now a globally respected manufacturer of innovative machines and workshop solutions for the metalworking trade – developed by people who know their customers' everyday work from their own experience.
